After Action Reports on Runs

 

1.)    VFW - Post #6378 Dickinson – Saturday September17, 2005

Mr. Bob Jackson, a POW from WWII was escorted by Motorcade to the VFW Post 6378 in Dickinson, Texas (District 16), where he was presented with a plaque and some other items.  Mr. Jackson was taken in by Auto and escorted by members of the VFWMG Unit 1 and members of the Marine Corp Motorcycle Club. There were 10 motorcycles escorting the procession.  A Ladies Auxiliary member drove the vehicle, and there was one VFWMG Support Member riding shotgun.  Mr. Jackson was given a short ride on the back of one of the lead motorcycles as well.  We finished the day out by taking Mr. Jackson to Dinner at a Seafood Diner on the Bay in Sea Brook where he became a Support Member of Unit 1.

2.)    VFW - Post #6974 & #10376 MarbleFalls – Weekend of Sept. 30 – Oct. 2nd of 2005

A group of our VFWMG Unit 1 members went to Marble Falls to help with a MAP Run for District 14.  There were a few members of the Marine Corps M/C group that also went along with the ride and participated in the program.  Members put over 500 miles on their bikes in 3 days.

3.)    VFW – Post #8905 Cypress – Saturday October 29, 2005

There were 4 members of Unit 1 including the President that participated in this run, which was a   benefit for a wounded Marine by the name of Alex Nieto.  Afterwards they participated in the food and auctions held as fundraisers.

4.)    SouthCoast Rally – Galveston – Weekend of November 4th and 5th of 2005.

We had several of Unit 1 members attend this rally and represent the VFWMG by wearing their vest and handed out applications to veterans.

5.)    VFW – Post #7995 – McGregor - Wednesday Nov. 9th – 13th.

One of Unit 1 members from the Caldwell Post represented us at the Blood Drive that was organized as a joint venture between the VFW & the American Legion for Ft. Hood and active duty personnel.

6.)    VFW – Post #12024 – The Woodlands – Thursday November 10, 2005

Seven Unit One members attended and helped the Marine Corps M/C with their Marine Corps Birthday Celebration.  The Post donated 4 flags for their Flag Poles.

7.)    VFW – Post #6378 – Dickinson - Saturday November 12, 2005

The VFW in Dickinson and the City of Dickinson held an Annual Veterans Day Parade in which they asked the VFWMG to lead.  We had 10 Unit 1 members in attendance.

8.)    VFW – Post #4341 – FreeportNovember 12, 2005

After the Parade in Dickinson, 8 Unit 1 members went on down to Freeport for a Benefit for Mike Archie, a past Dist. Sr. ViceCmdr.

9.)  Blue Knights – Dickinson – Sunday November 27, 2005

One of the VFWMG members that are a member in Santa Fe participated in a Toy Run held in Dickinson Area.

10.) VFW – Post #5121 – Waller – Sunday December 4, 2005

Five members of the VFWMG Unit 1 that are from various VFW Post participated in a Toy run that was hosted by the VFW in Waller for the Marine Corps Toys for Tots program.

 

11.) Marine Corps Toy for Tots – Dickinson – December 10, 2005

                        One of VFWMG Unit 1 member from Dickinson attended a Toy Run.

 

 

12.) VFW – Post #12024 – The Woodlands – December 19, 2005

      After 3 months of collecting toys from various toy runs and collecting monies from various VFW Post and other sources, all of the toys were packaged into boxes and crated on two crates and shipped to the VFW National Home for Children.  In all there were about $3,500.00 in toys and $1,400 in Wal-Mart Gift Certificates sent to the National Home.

13.) VFW – Post #12024 – The Woodlands – December 20, 2005

      Unit 1 collected toys as joint venture with the Marine Corps M/C & the Marine Corps Toys for Tots Group to collect items for teenagers at the Star of Hope Mission in Houston.  They collected about $2500.00 worth of items and delivered them to the Mission on the evening of the 20th.

14.) AMA – Austin – December 31, 2005

Nine VFWMG members attended a risk management course hosted by the AMA in Austin.  There were 4 from Unit 1, 2 from Unit 2, & 3 from Unit 3. With this we now meet the requirements to become a chartered unit with the AMA.

15.) Funeral – HoustonJanuary 3, 2006

The Chaplin Jimmy Woods - of Unit 1 had an Accident a few weekends ago.  His wife Sandra Woods did not survive the accident.  Jimmy is out of the hospital recovering.  Several of our members attended the funeral and were a part of the very impressive funeral precision.  There were about 50 motorcycles and about 25 cars and trucks in the precision.  It was a very fitting tribute to a very wonderful lady.
