VFWMG UNIT 4-4149 ACTIVITY REPORT

November, 2006

Some of the best folks in the city of Midland, including the VFWMG Unit 4-4149, got together to show our support of wounded soldiers in the Annual Show of Support - Military Hunt held in November at the Horseshoe Arean facility.  Over 3,000 supporters attended the event and in excess of $100,000 was extended to an amazing group of service men to send them on a hunting trip, courtesy of all of us.

Twelve wounded soldiers were treated to new rifles, Stetson Cowboy Hats, a shiny new pair of custom fitted Cowboy boots and an all expense paid deer hunting trip.  Their wives also received the royal treatment like only a bunch of West Texans can provide.   They were taken on a shopping spree and enjoyed a complete day at the spa.

VFWMG Unit 4-4149 contributed by filling up two Tables of Honor.  We were a fine looking group for sure.

Making good use of our time there, of course, we promoted the VFW and it's programs.  We handed out membership applications, literature, information on the M.A.P. program, Operation Uplink, Adopt-a-Unit, VetJobs and American Flags.

Once again, our group was called upon to serve the berieved family of one of our fallen brothers.  The VFWMG 4-4149 traveled to Brownwood, Texas for his Memorial Service.  Members of the Group assisted family members in filing the necessary forms for assistance, as part of the Veterans Support program.
