VFWMG UNIT 4-4149 ACTIVITY REPORT
November, 2006 - Thanksgiving
Even though the weather has been a bit uncooperative of late we still manage to take a few group rides throughout the area. We are always sure to take plenty of membership applications with us when we ride and visit with the folks we meet about the VFW and it's programs. Recruiting is easy once they learn we have an active Motorcycle Group. It's a really drawing card.
We often have the opportunity to tell family members of the currently deployed about our Military Assistance Programs. We distribute information regarding Operation Uplink and encourage people to go on-line and contribute. Many times we have opportunity to introduce the VetJobs.com website and it's service to returning veterans. Fortunately, our Post has a knowledgeable Service Officer that we can refer questions to when necessary.
On Thanksgiving this year we all decided to open the Post and serve a home cooked Thanksgiving dinner to Veterans and their families. Of course, the ladies did the cooking for us. We were very pleased to have fed approximately 80-90 Veterans and their families and friends. The folks were very appreciative of having a place to come. It was a great time of family, friends, and good food. Something we are all THANKFUL for.

They came in as strangers, but they left as friends . . . . and new members of Post 4149 !

Quite a little spread !

We were all just like one big happy family. Great event - something we will continue to do as a service to the Veterans. Thanks to all those that helped out - GOOD JOB !!
