VFWMG UNIT 4-4149 ACTIVITY REPORT
January, 2007

It’s a brand new year and we are excited about it.   The weather has prevented us from riding as much as we would like, but we still get together often and “kick the tires”.   Even if we don’t get to ride, we are still mindful of the importance of fulfilling our commitment to work as an extension of our Post.  Each of us carry VFWMG cards that we distribute each chance we get, which include information regarding the VFW M.A.P. and the aspects of this program.   We have opportunity on a regular basis to direct various Veterans and their families to the services offered by the VFW.   We emphasize the availability of help with phone cards to deployed military and hospitalized Veterans though the V.F.W.’s  Operation Uplink, (www.operationuplink.com), as well as help with job placement services for military personnel and Veterans, through www.vetjobs.com .   We get good response and the people we visit with are happy to have the information.

In cooperation with the Patriot Guard Riders, our Group served as escorts for the funeral of a fallen brother.  Lonewolf was a friend and fellow rider that will be missed by all of us.

Six members of Unit 4-4149 attended the V.F.W. Mid-Winter Convention in Austin, Texas.  The trip was a good one, and we enjoyed meeting many of our new fellow VFWMG riders, as well as renewing some old friendships.

We were pleased to learn of the growth Statewide of our group.

Welcome to our newest Charter.   KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK !

We would like to thank the entire group for it’s cooperation in allowing the Activity Reports to be submitted directly to the webmaster.  We trust it will be a much more efficient process.

Unit 4 would like to also thank the local VFW for their hospitality in opening their Post and serving such a wonderful meal.   We had a terrific time with all of the folks there.

Norm & Judy, It's been a long day, huh?   Thanks for all your hard work.

We made a trip to visit the Capitol while we were there.  Such a grand place.   We are proud to be TEXANS !

Our Group took action legislatively by  participating  in the National Veterans Hot-Line by making phone calls and sending emails to Washington, D.C. during the month.   We must let our voices be heard when it comes to the treatment and care of our Nation’s Veterans.
