VFWMG Unit 4-4149 Activity Report

February, 2007

Things are going well with our Group.   We are conducting regular monthly meetings and still growing.  Seems the enthusiasm is contagious, as we have many prospective members interested in joining us.  Honestly, we are looking forward to some Spring weather to enable us to ride more as a group.   Not that we are a bunch of sissies or anything, but there's just something about freezing weather and icy roads that seem to be a deterrent from group riding.

An old friend and follow rider passed away and we made the last ride with him.  Maion Eugene "Bud" Jenkins was laid to rest on the 5th of this month, surrounded by his motorcycle brothers.  The group made the run in support of his family and friends.

Trinity Haven Nursing Home:   Our Chaplain, Darrell (Kojak) Thornton is still faithful to make regular visits to the nursing home and represent the Group.   He offers Bible study and music to the residents there.

Lamon Lusk Sanchez Veterans Home, Big Spring, TX:  A Veteran can hardly let a holiday go by that he doesn't consider other Veterans.   We accompanied the Ladies Auxiliary to pay a visit and take Valentines.  We delivered cards and sugar-free candy.   The best part is just simply sitting and visiting with such outstanding men and women that gave so much to our Country.  No pictures are posted since it just doesn't seem appropriate to show a bunch of Veterans passing out little pink and red valentines.  Besides, the ladies took all the pictures for their scrapbook.   Oh well, just use your imagination, if you must.

Post Aid:  Our Post, like so many others, is in need of repair.  We are busy this month planning an upcoming event to raise funds for the needed maintenance and repairs.  Watch for our future reports for the outcome of the success.
