VFWMG UNIT 4-4149 ACTIVITY REPORT
August,
2007
Isn’t
Summer great - so much opportunity to
ride. We at Unit 4 are taking full advantage. Here we
are again at a “Welcome Home” reception for a member of our
military returning for leave. It’s one of the things we do that
bring us the most satisfaction.

Unit
4 is always well represented and joins efforts with the Patriot Guard
riders and other groups in the area to welcome these fine young men and women
home. We have been fortunate to have the opportunity to promote our
group, our Post and its many programs at these events. We continue to carry
literature with us to distribute to the public, pass out flags and capitalize
of the opportunity to recruit new members. During the month
of August we rode together to these events weekly. Often the notice
is short, but our riders can be depended on to ride in a moments
notice. Nice group of gentlemen and ladies.
Unfortunately,
those that serve our Country, often times are paying the ultimate
sacrifice. In those times when the bodies arrive, Unit 4-4149 is there to
show their support and appreciation to the family, by serving as escorts.
Below are a few photos of those gatherings. As discretion is the
better part of valor, we choose carefully what is posted to protect the
families and opt to refrain from posting the names of the fallen.

Attending
the services and being in close touch with the family give us the opportunity
to offer the assistance provided by the VFW. Being of service in this
manner is appreciated by both the families and the public. The "image" of motorcycle riders, as a whole, in excelerating to a new level. We as Veterans
can be pleased about the part we are playing in this transistion.
May God Bless those who suffer.
Some
of our group has been able to attend area rallies as well as the cross country
rally. In each ride our riders are encouraged to recruit for
membership and inform other Veterans and their families of the benefits
offered by the VFW.
Our
group has been busy with the planning and preparation of our upcoming event
"THUNDER FOR A BROTHER". Our flyer has been posted on our
VFWMG website and we encourage you to attend. As we secure sponsorship,
advertising, and participation we are presented with opportunity to educate the
public about the VFW and its many programs, i.e. M.A.P., Vetjobs, Unmet Needs, etc. We are involving the
community which give us exposure as a Post that is
actively serving our Veterans and our Troops.
Our very best to all of you. If you get
the chance, take a ride to
